Daisie Mae Stanley was the first dog I ever remember having, even though I was quite young—somewhere between four and twelve during her time with us. Because of that, my memories of her are more like warm, fuzzy snapshots than full stories. But even in those early years, she left a lasting impression. She was gentle, sweet, and always seemed to know her place in our hearts. Daisie was the beginning of my bond with dogs, and even if the details are hazy, the feeling of love and comfort she brought is crystal clear.
One thing I do remember vividly is her signature move: carpet swimming. She’d stretch out and paddle across the floor like she was gliding through water, and it was the funniest, most charming thing to watch. In our house, she was absolutely a princess—treated with love, pampered with affection, and always given the royal treatment. Daisie Mae may have been my first dog, but she was also a symbol of joy and innocence during those early years, and her legacy still lives on in the way I love and care for dogs today.
